A classic Asahi SMC Pentax-M 50mm F1.4 vintage prime lens, professionally modified by TerPhoto for cinematography, filmmaking, professional video production, portrait work, and creative full-frame photography.

This lens has been adapted and precisely adjusted for Sony E-Mount cameras while retaining the characteristic rendering of the original Pentax optical design. It covers a full-frame sensor, making it suitable for cameras such as Sony Alpha full-frame bodies as well as APS-C Sony E-Mount cameras.

For cinema use, the aperture mechanism has been de-clicked, allowing smooth and continuous iris adjustments during filming instead of fixed photographic aperture stops. A follow-focus gear is installed on the focusing ring, providing more precise manual focusing and compatibility with professional follow-focus systems.

The lens has been fully cleaned, mechanically adjusted and re-lubricated before sale. Focus and aperture operation have been prepared for reliable manual operation in video production.

The glass is in good vintage condition. As expected from an original lens of this age, there may be very minor age-related or cleaning wear on the optical surfaces, but nothing that affects the final image under normal shooting conditions.

The exterior is also in good vintage condition with light cosmetic signs consistent with age and normal use. Engravings and distance/aperture markings remain clearly visible. Please inspect the photographs carefully, as they show the actual lens included in this offer.

The supplied cine-style hood assembly uses the original 49mm front filter thread with a 49mm-to-72mm step-up arrangement, giving the lens a practical 72mm front setup for production use.

The original lens was designed for 35mm film and therefore provides a full-frame image circle. Its 50mm focal length gives a natural perspective on full-frame cameras, while the fast F1.4 aperture allows strong subject separation, shallow depth of field and effective low-light shooting.
