🎬 Asahi Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR 135mm F3.5 Cine Lens with Neutral Oval Anamorphic-Style Bokeh for Canon EF
This offer is for a professionally cine-modded Asahi Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR 135mm F3.5 vintage telephoto prime lens, modified by TerPhoto for cinematography, professional video production, music videos, interviews, narrative filmmaking, commercial work, and stylized portrait shooting. This spherical-modified lens features a neutral oval bokeh effect, designed to emulate the visual character of anamorphic lenses without requiring de-squeezing in post-production. Simply add 1:2.35 cinematic black bars during editing for a beautiful widescreen cinema look.
The modification is based on the classic Asahi Optical Co. Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR 135mm F3.5, a Japanese M42 manual-focus telephoto lens from the early 1970s. The Super-Multi-Coated version was part of Asahi/Pentax’s famous Takumar lens family and was produced around 1971–1975 for 35mm full-frame film cameras. The original lens used a compact 4 elements / 4 groups optical design, 6 aperture blades, and Asahi’s advanced multi-coating system for improved contrast and flare control compared with earlier single-coated lenses.
This lens has been fully cleaned, adjusted, aligned, re-lubricated, adapted, and adjusted for Canon EF mount. It covers a full-frame sensor, making it suitable for Canon EF cinema cameras, Canon DSLR bodies, and EF-compatible cinema systems. It can also be adapted further to many mirrorless cinema cameras using an EF adapter.
The glass is in good vintage condition. It has been cleaned and aligned, free of fungus, scratches and fog. The body shows normal vintage cosmetic wear, including light marks and signs of previous use, but the lens is fully functional and ready for production work. Focus and aperture operation are smooth and precise, aperture was de-clicked. Two 0.8 pitch follow focus gears are installed for accurate focusing and aperture control with standard cinema follow focus systems.
The 135mm focal length gives strong background compression, elegant subject separation, and a flattering telephoto look for portraits, close-ups, product shots, detail shots, music videos, and cinematic inserts. Combined with the neutral oval bokeh modification, this lens creates a unique vintage cinema rendering with organic sharpness, smooth falloff, warm classic contrast, and anamorphic-style character without the cost or workflow complexity of real anamorphic glass.
