🎬 Asahi Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 35mm F3.5 Cine Mod Wide Prime Lens for Sony E-Mount

This offer is for a professionally cine-modded Asahi Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 35mm F3.5 vintage wide-angle prime lens, adapted and adjusted for Sony E-mount cameras. The original lens is based on the legendary Pentax/Asahi Takumar M42 screw-mount design, a compact Japanese wide prime known for strong mechanical build quality, smooth manual focusing, natural color rendering, and classic film-era contrast. The 35mm F3.5 Takumar optical design traces back to the Auto-Takumar 35mm F3.5 introduced in the late 1950s, with the optical formula remaining highly consistent through later M42 versions; the Super-Multi-Coated generation belongs to Asahi/Pentax’s early 1970s multicoated era before M42 production was phased out around the mid-1970s.

This TerPhoto cine modification makes the lens much more practical for professional video, cinematography, documentary work, music videos, interviews, travel films, and narrative production. The lens has been fully cleaned, adjusted, aligned, re-lubricated, adapted, and adjusted for Sony E-mount. The aperture has been de-clicked for smooth exposure transitions during video capture, and the lens is equipped with two 0.8-pitch follow focus gears for precise control of both focusing and aperture. It also includes an 80mm outside diameter cine lens hood, making the front profile more cinema-friendly for matte boxes and rig setups.

The lens covers a full-frame sensor, making it suitable for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras as well as APS-C Sony E-mount bodies. On full frame, 35mm gives a natural wide field of view that works beautifully for environmental portraits, street-style video, handheld documentary scenes, establishing shots, product content, and everyday cinematic storytelling. On APS-C, it becomes a tighter normal-view lens, excellent for interviews, detail shots, and controlled scenes.

Glass is overall in good vintage condition. The optics have been cleaned and aligned, and the lens is free of fungus and serious scratches. There is very minor optical wear on the glass, typical for vintage lenses of this age, and it will not affect the final image in normal shooting. The body shows normal signs of use from age and previous handling, but the lens is fully functional and ready for professional video or photo use.
