Chinon Auto Multi-Coated 50mm F1.7 Cine Mod Prime Lens For Filmmakers | Canon EF

🎬 Chinon Auto Multi-Coated 50mm F1.7 Cine-Mod Prime Lens – Canon EF

This professionally modified Chinon Auto Multi-Coated 50mm F1.7 is a character-rich vintage Japanese prime prepared by TerPhoto for cinematography, filmmaking, professional video production and creative photography. The lens has been fully cleaned, mechanically adjusted and re-lubricated to provide smooth manual operation. Aperture mechanism has been professionally de-clicked, allowing continuous iris adjustments during filming instead of the stepped aperture movement found on the original photographic version.

Two 0.8-pitch follow-focus gears are installed: one on the focusing ring and one on the aperture ring. This allows precise control with professional follow-focus systems, wireless lens motors and cinema rigs. The lens has also been adapted and carefully adjusted for the Canon EF mount. It covers a full-frame image sensor, making it suitable for Canon full-frame EF cameras as well as compatible cinema cameras and other systems when used with the appropriate adapter.

Glass is in good vintage condition. There is very minor wear on the optical surfaces consistent with the age of a vintage lens. These small age-related marks do not affect normal image quality. The lens has been cleaned and checked before sale. Cosmetically, expect normal signs of previous use appropriate for an original vintage photographic lens. These marks are part of its history and do not interfere with operation.

Chinon Auto Multi-Coated 50mm F1.7 comes from Chinon’s classic manual-focus 35mm SLR period of the late 1970s and 1980s. The original 50mm F1.7 served as a fast standard prime in Chinon’s system and is known today among vintage-lens users for its compact construction, multi-coated optics and classic rendering. This TerPhoto cine modification is based on the original photographic Chinon 50mm F1.7 platform, preserving its vintage optics while converting the controls and mount for modern filmmaking use. At F1.7, the lens can produce shallow depth of field and soft background separation, while the 50mm focal length provides a natural perspective suitable for portraits, dialogue scenes, interviews, music videos, narrative filmmaking and commercial work. On full-frame cameras it behaves as a traditional standard prime; on Super 35 or APS-C sensors it becomes a useful short-telephoto option.
