TerPhoto presents a professionally prepared Carl Zeiss Jena MC Prakticar 135mm F3.5, converted into a practical vintage cine lens for cinematography, filmmaking and professional video production. This is a classic East German Carl Zeiss Jena manual-focus telephoto lens adapted and precisely adjusted for Sony E-mount cameras. Because the original lens was designed for the 35mm film format, it provides full-frame sensor coverage, making it suitable for Sony Alpha and Sony Cinema Line E-mount cameras as well as APS-C bodies.

Aperture mechanism has been de-clicked, allowing smooth, stepless iris adjustments during a shot instead of the original photographic click stops. Two cine-style gears are installed: one on the focusing control and one on the aperture control. This makes the lens much easier to integrate into a cinema rig with follow-focus equipment and allows repeatable focus or exposure adjustments. Before modification, the lens was fully cleaned, mechanically adjusted and re-lubricated. It was then adapted and adjusted for Sony E-mount use. The conversion remains fully manual, preserving the tactile character of the original lens while making it significantly more convenient for modern filmmaking.

Glass is in good vintage condition. It may have very minor age-related wear or cleaning traces on the optical surfaces, typical for a lens of this era but it will not affect the final image. The exterior shows normal vintage cosmetic wear, rubbing and small marks from previous use, visible in the photographs. These cosmetic signs do not interfere with normal operation.

Historically, the Prakticar 3.5/135 MC belongs to the Carl Zeiss Jena generation created for the Praktica B bayonet system during the 1980s. The lens is closely related to, and optically based on the legendary M42 Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 135mm F3.5 MC. The Prakticar version retained the established 4-element/3-group Sonnar-type optical formula while placing it into a Praktica-B-era housing. Production records for this particular Prakticar version span approximately 1980–1988.

The result is a compact vintage telephoto with classic Zeiss Jena character: strong subject separation, attractive vintage rendering and a focal length especially useful for portraits, compressed landscapes, interviews, details, narrative filmmaking and stylized commercial work.

The included 80mm OD cine lens hood helps integrate the lens more naturally into a video rig and provides additional protection for the front element.
