A professionally modified vintage Chinon Auto Multi-Coated 55mm F1.7 prime lens prepared by TerPhoto for cinematography, filmmaking and professional video production. This cine conversion is based on the classic Japanese M42 Auto Chinon 55mm F1.7 and has been adapted and precisely adjusted for Fujifilm X / FX mount cameras.

The lens features a specially modified optical character designed to create a convincing anamorphic-style cinematic look while remaining a spherical lens. It produces neutral oval bokeh together with attractive neutral anamorphic-style flares. The flare and bokeh coloration follows the color of the actual light source, giving filmmakers much greater creative flexibility.

Because this is a spherical anamorphic-look modification rather than a squeeze anamorphic optic, no de-squeezing is required in post-production. For a classic widescreen presentation, simply add approximately 2.35:1 cinematic black bars during editing.

The aperture has been professionally de-clicked, allowing smooth, stepless exposure changes during video recording. A follow-focus gear is installed on the focusing ring, giving the lens a practical cine-style interface for accurate manual focus pulling with standard follow-focus equipment.

The lens has been fully cleaned, mechanically adjusted and re-lubricated, then adapted and calibrated for Fujifilm X mount. Glass is in good vintage condition, free of fungus, scratches and fog. As expected from an original vintage optic, there may be very minor age-related wear on the glass, but this does not affect the final image. The barrel and original components may also show minor cosmetic traces consistent with age and normal professional use. The original Auto Chinon Multi-Coated 55mm F1.7 belongs to the classic Japanese M42 SLR era. The model was produced from approximately the late 1960s through around 1975 and was designed as a fast normal prime for 35mm cameras. Its optical formula uses 6 elements in 5 groups, with a six-blade diaphragm and an original M42 screw mount. This TerPhoto version keeps the character of that vintage optical design while transforming it into a much more production-friendly cinema lens for modern mirrorless cameras.

The optics were originally designed to cover the 35mm full-frame image circle. When used on a Fujifilm X APS-C camera, the 55mm focal length provides a field of view comparable to approximately 82.5mm on full frame, making it especially useful for portraits, close-ups, interviews, detail shots and cinematic medium-telephoto compositions.
