This Helios 28mm F2.8 Cine Mod prime lens has been professionally prepared by TerPhoto for cinematography, filmmaking and professional video production. Originally produced as a Japanese-made M42 manual-focus photographic lens, this example has been fully cleaned, adjusted and re-lubricated, then adapted and calibrated for Micro Four Thirds / M4/3 mount use. Aperture has been de-clicked, allowing smooth and continuous iris adjustments during filming instead of the stepped aperture movement found on the original photographic version. Two cine follow-focus gears are installed: one on the focusing ring for accurate focus pulls and another on the aperture ring for controlled iris changes. This makes the lens convenient for use with follow-focus systems, camera cages and compact cinema rigs.

The lens covers a 35mm full-frame image circle, although this particular lens is supplied configured for M4/3 cameras. On a Micro Four Thirds sensor, the 28mm focal length produces approximately the field of view associated with a 56mm lens on full frame, making it especially useful as a natural-looking normal prime for narrative scenes, interviews, music videos, documentary work and stylized commercial footage.
