🎬 Hoya HMC Wide-Auto 28mm F2.8 Cine Mod Wide Lens with Anamorphic Bokeh for Fujifilm X
This TerPhoto cine-modified Hoya HMC Wide-Auto 28mm F2.8 is a compact vintage wide-angle prime adapted for Fujifilm X mount cameras and prepared for cinematography, music videos, documentary work, travel filmmaking, short films, commercials, and professional video production. The lens has been fully cleaned, adjusted, re-lubricated, adapted, and precisely adjusted for Fujifilm X / FX mount use.
This modification is designed to create a cinematic anamorphic-inspired look while keeping the lens simple to use on standard digital cameras. The optical modification produces a neutral oval bokeh character that emulates the anamorphic style without the need for de-squeezing. For a classic widescreen cinema presentation, simply add 1:2.35 aspect ratio black bars in post-production. This makes the lens a practical choice for filmmakers who want vintage rendering, wide-angle perspective, and stylized cinematic character without using a true anamorphic adapter.
The aperture has been de-clicked for smooth, silent iris pulls during video recording. Two follow focus gears are installed for precise control over both focus and aperture, allowing the lens to work comfortably with follow focus systems, cinema rigs, cages, matte boxes, shoulder rigs, and professional video setups. The included 80mm outer diameter cine lens hood gives the lens a more standardized cinema-style front, making it easier to use in a filmmaking workflow.
The glass is in good condition. It has been cleaned and aligned, and is free of fungus, fog, and scratches. The lens body shows normal vintage cosmetic wear, visible in the photos, but this does not affect the operation or image quality. Focus and aperture movement are smooth after service and re-lubrication.
The Hoya HMC Wide-Auto 28mm F2.8 is a Japanese-made manual focus lens from the classic 35mm film SLR era, commonly associated with late 1970s to 1980s lens production. Hoya is best known for optical glass and multi-coating technology, and this HMC lens uses Hoya Multi Coating for improved contrast and flare control compared with many older single-coated lenses.
This lens covers full frame sensors, so on Fujifilm X APS-C cameras it gives an approximate full-frame equivalent field of view of about 42mm. That makes it especially useful as a natural wide-normal cinema lens for handheld video, environmental portraits, street scenes, travel footage, product shots, and narrative filmmaking.
