🎬 Mamiya/Sekor SX 28mm F2.8 Cine Mod – Anamorphic-Style Bokeh & Flare
A professionally prepared vintage Mamiya/Sekor Auto SX 28mm F2.8 prime lens, fully serviced and modified by TerPhoto for cinematography, filmmaking and professional video work. This version has been adapted and precisely adjusted for Micro Four Thirds / M4/3 cameras and combines authentic 1970s Japanese optics with practical cinema-oriented modifications.
The aperture has been de-clicked, allowing smooth continuous iris adjustment during recording instead of the stepped movement of a standard photography lens. A follow-focus gear is installed on the focusing ring, making the lens ready for use with standard cinema follow-focus systems and allowing more controlled manual focus pulls. Optical modification creates a distinctive orange oval bokeh together with attractive orange anamorphic-style flare characteristics. This remains a spherical lens rather than a true squeeze anamorphic optic, so no de-squeezing is required in post-production. For an anamorphic-inspired presentation, simply compose for or add approximately 2.35:1 cinematic framing during editing.
The lens has been fully cleaned, mechanically adjusted and re-lubricated before adaptation. The glass is in good vintage condition. There is only very minor age-related wear on the glass, typical for vintage optics, and it does not affect the final image in normal use. The exterior also shows light cosmetic signs of age and use, visible in the listing photographs, while retaining clear engraved markings and a clean professional cine-mod appearance.
Originally introduced in 1974, the Auto Mamiya/Sekor SX 28mm F2.8 belonged to Mamiya’s MSX/DSX-generation 35mm SLR system. The lens uses a 7-element/7-group optical formula and was designed to cover the full 36×24mm film frame. On a standard Micro Four Thirds camera, the 28mm focal length gives approximately the field of view associated with a 56mm lens on full frame, making it useful for narrative shots, interviews, detail work, music videos and stylized handheld cinematography.

🎬 Why Choose This Lens?
This Mamiya/Sekor SX is designed for filmmakers who want something more distinctive than the clean, neutral rendering of modern lenses. The genuine 1970s optical design provides an authentic vintage foundation, while the TerPhoto cine modification adds oval highlights, warm orange flare character, a de-clicked iris and follow-focus compatibility. Because the effect is created in a spherical lens, the workflow stays simple: mount it directly to an M4/3 camera, shoot normally and use widescreen framing in post when you want an anamorphic-inspired finished image. It is particularly suitable for narrative filmmaking, music videos, portraits, experimental cinematography and projects where optical character is part of the visual language.
