This Minolta MD 50mm F1.7 has been professionally prepared and modified by TerPhoto for cinematography, filmmaking and professional video work. The classic vintage Minolta optical character is combined with practical cine modifications, making this lens ready for modern Sony E-mount mirrorless and cinema cameras. The lens produces a distinctive neutral oval bokeh and attractive anamorphic-style neutral flares. Instead of introducing a fixed artificial flare color, the flare and bokeh response takes on the color of the light source, helping retain a natural, versatile cinematic look, which makes it especially useful for narrative filmmaking, music videos, commercials, portraits, interviews and other productions where vintage optical character is desired. This is a spherical modified lens rather than a squeeze anamorphic optic, so there is no de-squeezing required in post-production. For an anamorphic-inspired presentation, simply crop or add approximately 2.35:1 cinematic black bars during editing.

The aperture has been de-clicked, allowing smooth iris adjustments during a shot without the hard click-stops found on the original photographic lens. A follow-focus gear is installed on the focusing ring, providing more convenient and repeatable manual focus control with standard cinema follow-focus systems.

The lens has been fully cleaned, adjusted and re-lubricated. It has also been professionally adapted and adjusted for Sony E-mount use. The lens covers a full-frame sensor, making it suitable for full-frame Sony E-mount cameras as well as APS-C models.

The glass is in good vintage condition. There is very minor age-related wear on the glass, typical for an optic of this age. This does not affect the final image. The exterior is also in good vintage condition with normal small signs of previous use. The markings remain clear and the cine modification is installed securely.
