Originally manufactured in the former German Democratic Republic (East Germany) during the 1970s and 1980s by Pentacon, this legendary portrait lens became well known for its excellent sharpness, smooth rendering and beautiful vintage color reproduction.

This version has been extensively rebuilt for professional filmmaking by TerPhoto. The aperture has been de-clicked for smooth, silent iris transitions, while both the focus and aperture rings feature 0.8 MOD follow focus gears for seamless integration with professional cinema accessories.

What makes this lens especially unique is its neutral oval bokeh modification. Unlike conventional spherical lenses, this modification creates an oval out-of-focus rendering that closely resembles the character of anamorphic lenses—without requiring anamorphic adapters or de-squeezing in post-production. Simply add 2.35:1 cinematic black bars during editing to achieve a convincing widescreen cinematic appearance while maintaining the convenience and brightness of a spherical lens.

The lens covers Full Frame sensors, making it suitable for everything from Fujifilm APS-C cameras to modern cinema cameras with larger sensors when adapted accordingly.

The optical elements are in very good vintage condition. The glass shows only very minor cleaning marks, typical for a lens of this age, with no impact on image quality. Focus movement is smooth, aperture operates perfectly, and the lens is fully ready for professional production use.
