🎬 Ricoh XR Rikenon Reflex 600mm F8 Macro – 600mm Vintage Mirror Lens for Sony E-Mount
A rare and distinctive Japanese-made Ricoh XR Rikenon Reflex 600mm F8 Macro super-telephoto mirror lens, professionally serviced and adapted for Sony E-mount full-frame and APS-C mirrorless cameras. This is a classic catadioptric / reflex mirror lens, combining an extreme 600mm focal length with a relatively compact body compared with conventional refractive 600mm telephoto lenses. Its optical design also produces the characteristic donut-shaped bokeh associated with vintage mirror lenses, making it especially interesting for wildlife, nature, landscapes, moon photography, distant details and experimental cinematic imagery.
The original lens is an XR Rikenon Reflex 600mm F8, made in Japan for Ricoh’s XR/K-mount SLR system. Ricoh’s XR SLR family was established around the end of the 1970s and continued through the 1980s; Ricoh’s own historical camera archive documents the XR line throughout this period, including models such as the XR-P in 1984 and XR-X in 1987. Period/reference lens lists also identify the Rikenon 600mm F8 Reflex as an XR-version K-mount lens. The lens offered here retains that original Ricoh optical assembly and has been adapted by TerPhoto for modern Sony E-mount use.
This example has been fully cleaned, adjusted and re-lubricated. It has also been adapted and adjusted for Sony E-mount, allowing this unusual vintage optic to be used directly on compatible Sony mirrorless cameras while retaining manual focusing. The lens covers a full-frame sensor, making it suitable for Sony full-frame bodies as well as APS-C Sony E-mount cameras. On APS-C, the field of view is equivalent to approximately 900mm on full frame.
Glass condition: the optics are in good vintage condition. There is very minor age-related wear on the glass, typical for a vintage lens of this type. According to our inspection, this minor wear does not affect the final image.
The exterior shows normal cosmetic signs of vintage use, including visible wear around the tripod mounting assembly and some edges, as shown in the actual product photographs. These cosmetic marks do not prevent normal operation. Please inspect all supplied photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description.
Unlike a conventional telephoto lens, a reflex lens uses mirrors as part of its optical path. The F8 aperture is fixed, so exposure is controlled through shutter speed and ISO rather than an adjustable iris. One of the most recognizable creative characteristics of this construction is its circular ring or donut bokeh in out-of-focus highlights.

🎬 Why Choose This Lens?
The XR Rikenon Reflex 600mm F8 is an excellent choice for photographers and filmmakers looking for something very different from a modern clinical telephoto. Its 600mm reach gives you serious magnification for wildlife, moon photography, distant landscapes and compressed compositions, while the reflex construction keeps the lens considerably more compact than a conventional vintage 600mm optic. Most importantly, the mirror design creates unmistakable ring-shaped bokeh and a genuine vintage rendering that is difficult to reproduce with ordinary modern lenses. With TerPhoto’s Sony E-mount adaptation, full-frame coverage and completed servicing, this vintage Japanese super-telephoto can be put back to practical use on modern Sony mirrorless cameras.
