🎬 Telear-5B MC 250mm F5.6 Rare Cine Mod Telephoto Prime Lens – Canon EF
A rare MC Telear-5B 250mm F5.6 vintage telephoto prime, professionally serviced and cine-modified by TerPhoto for cinematography, filmmaking and professional video production. Originally designed as a medium-format telephoto lens, this Telear provides a distinctive vintage optical character while offering more than enough image-circle coverage for a full-frame 35mm sensor.
This lens has been professionally adapted and precisely adjusted for Canon EF mount. The aperture mechanism has been de-clicked, allowing smooth, continuous aperture adjustments during video recording. Two 0.8-pitch follow-focus gears are installed for convenient control of both focusing and aperture with standard cinema follow-focus equipment.
Before modification, the lens was fully cleaned, adjusted and re-lubricated. Focus and aperture operation have been prepared for practical cinematography use. An 80mm OD cine lens hood is included, helping integrate this vintage optic into a modern cinema rig.
The glass is in good vintage condition. There is very minor age-related wear on the optical surfaces, typical of a vintage lens of this period. These minor signs do not affect the final image. The body also shows normal cosmetic evidence of previous use; please inspect the detailed photographs for the exact condition of this individual lens.
The Telear-5 was developed for the Kiev 6×6 medium-format camera system and was manufactured by the Arsenal factory in Kyiv. Contemporary references place the introduction of the Telear-5 around 1988, with versions produced for both the Kiev/Pentacon Six-type B mount and the Kiev-88/Salyut V mount. A 1991 Telear manual describes it as a five-element long-focus optical system intended for medium-format cameras. The Telear-5B version was intended for cameras including the Kiev-6C and Kiev-60 and could also be used with the Pentacon Six system.
Unlike adapting a typical 35mm vintage telephoto, the original 6×6 medium-format coverage gives this lens an image circle substantially larger than the Canon full-frame format. This makes the Telear-5B particularly interesting for filmmakers looking for unusual vintage glass with generous sensor coverage.

🎬 Why Choose This Lens?
The Telear-5B is an unusual choice for filmmakers who want something beyond conventional modern telephoto rendering. Its medium-format heritage, 250mm focal length and vintage multi-coated optics make it particularly suitable for compressed portraits, distant details, landscapes, nature footage, stylized inserts and cinematic telephoto shots. On a full-frame Canon EF camera it retains its true 250mm field-of-view behavior, while crop-sensor and Super 35 cameras provide an even tighter perspective. The de-clicked aperture and dual follow-focus gears turn this rare photographic optic into a much more practical production lens while preserving its original vintage character.
