🎬 Vivitar MC 28mm F2.8 Cine Mod – Oval Bokeh Full-Frame Wide-Angle

This is a professionally serviced and cine-modified Vivitar MC Wide-Angle 28mm F2.8 vintage prime lens, converted and precisely adjusted for Canon EF mount. Originally produced as a manual-focus Olympus OM-mount photographic lens, this example has been rebuilt by TerPhoto for cinematography, filmmaking and professional video work and adapter/adjusted for Canon EF mount. Originally this 28mm lens was made for 35mm film photography, and this cine conversion therefore provides full-frame sensor coverage. On a full-frame Canon EF camera, 28mm gives a classic wide-angle field of view suitable for establishing shots, handheld work, environmental portraits, interiors, music videos and narrative filmmaking.

The lens has been fully cleaned, mechanically adjusted and re-lubricated. Its aperture has been de-clicked, allowing smooth continuous iris changes during filming instead of the stepped aperture movement of a standard photography lens. A 0.8-pitch follow-focus gear is installed on the focusing ring, making the lens ready for use with standard cinema follow-focus systems, wireless focus motors and compact video rigs.

This lens also features a special neutral oval-bokeh modification designed to create an anamorphic-inspired visual character while retaining a conventional spherical optical system. Out-of-focus highlights can take on an elongated oval appearance, giving footage a more cinematic character without using a true anamorphic taking lens. Because the optical system remains spherical, no de-squeezing is required in post-production. For a classic widescreen presentation, a 2.35:1 crop or cinematic black bars can simply be added during editing.

Please note that this is an anamorphic-style / oval-bokeh cine modification, not an optical anamorphic lens. It therefore keeps the straightforward workflow, focusing behavior and image geometry of a normal spherical 28mm prime while adding distinctive bokeh character.

The photographs show the actual lens offered. The glass is in good vintage condition with only very minor age-related wear. These small signs are typical for vintage optics and are not expected to affect the final image. The body and metal mount show normal light cosmetic signs of previous use consistent with the lens's age. All functional components have been cleaned, adjusted and prepared for professional manual operation.
