The lens was originally produced for the Contax/Yashica C/Y mount system and has now been professionally adapted and adjusted for Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. It provides full-frame sensor coverage, making it suitable for Sony Alpha full-frame bodies as well as APS-C Sony E-mount cameras.

For cinema use, the original aperture mechanism has been de-clicked, allowing smooth and continuous iris adjustments while recording. Two follow-focus gears are installed: one on the focusing ring and one on the aperture ring. This allows precise operation with standard follow-focus systems and makes the lens much more convenient for rigged cinema camera setups.
